CENTRAL PARK!

My hairdresser through many years, Morten, has finally opened his own salon, Central Park! He has been keeping my short hair neat for years, so now that I have decided to growing my hair out, I want you guys to keep him in business. The guy is a rare combination of cool, talent, masculinity and down-to-earthliness - so needless to say I highly recommend him! In addition his new place is filled with cool, retro Americana vibes so that both men and women should feel right at home.

His place is in Schleppegrellsgate, at the top of Birkelunden, right by the tram stop. For appointments, please call: +47 995 15 248

REDESIGN

I just returned from The Copenhagen Fashion summit, which is all about green, sustainable fashion and conscious consumerism. The way we are consuming fashion these days are in direct conflict with our fragile earth, so steps has to be taken not only in the way we produce our clothes, but also in the way we go about buying and throwing them...Inspired by this I thought I would show you girls about my own little efforts to redesign old items that was either warn out, just hanging there or not fitting.

First up is a sequined top that was bought in Veluria Vintage (by fabulous Maya Vik) some years ago. It was CLOSE to perfect in it wonderful sparklyness, but - alas - wasn't fitting all that well. I decided it was too great to hang there, and thus undid it so that I could fit the shape to mine. The edge felt too chunky and gave the top an "aunt'sy" feel so I left it with raw edge. the result is that I now want to wear it all the time!

Second item are a top with elaborate decor. It was one of my absolute favorites - and so worn to death. It was ripped at one seam and could not be worn anymore. At the time I did not have the heart to through it as the lace detailing was too beautiful - luckily. I finally mustered up the courage to undo the whole top - to only leave the lace - and then sewing the other parts in new silk, having taken the pattern from the old pieces. The hem detail will be sewn on soon.

Last item is a wide belt I decided to sew myself as but found only crazy expensive ones. All pieces are sewn from mostly new parts found at Knappehuset in Grønnegata in Oslo - save from the stud detail. These are in fact an old, super thin leather belt which buckle finally broke. It made for the perfect detail on the belt I think (and the whole belt came to about 150 NOK...)

FRIDAY FUN

FINALLY Friday! And finally some time to relax. The last 3 weeks have been such a whirlwind I have completely forsaken this blog. At one point I thought I simply had to put it to rest due to this - but HERE I AM! I want to and promise you to be more active from here on out, as blogging about style and fashion is a true passion. Some ideas about what you would want to read more about would be welcome.

Anyway: in order to celebrate the first real relaxing weekend in a month I got this great cardigan by DAY Birger & Michelsen. I am sucker for stripes (as the most dedicated readers will have noticed already), so I could not resist this one. The ring - and the Champagne - is a gift from my French (oh-let's-say) parents-in-law! I love both! The rest is the Michael Kors stilettos you've already seen, and inexpensive H&M stuff.

MELLOW GREEN

Green bursted onto the fashion arena, late 2011, much to my delight. Having worked for the Green Square Spring collection the previous year I felt I was taking a risk going for green, as Premiere Vision' s (the textile fare in Paris) forecast had NO shades of it for the coming season. When my gut reaction as a designer is confirmed it feels truly great! I only wish I could have offered you my designs here... Having nothing of the sort I resigned to H&M who's trousers were both cute and practical. I have used them all through winter and now they will see my through spring.

Necklaces are both old: The Chrystal one is vintage and the shark tooth one of my mother?s finds from the 80's...I like how they gently clash and work together at the same time..

INGUNN BIRKELAND EXHIBITION

Earlier this year I wrote about Ingunn Birkeland's fabulous shoes. What you all might not be aware of though is that this girl is a multi talent, stroking her magic hands over such vast variations as clothes, furniture, shoes and wall art. Her genius is that she is highly recognizable in all these medias, treating each with variations over the same theme: vibrant color blocking and intricate weaving. No wonder I am sold! Only right then, that Galleri Format was packed to its brim with people wanting to attend her show opening last night! We were treated to a live performance with girls in her striking costumes along with drinks and speeches. Congratulations Ingunn!

The girl herself was wearing a her own shoes and a striking necklace of own design. I wish I had gotten a better snap of it! It is beautiful and I am sure she can sell A LOT of those! Me, I am wearing a colorful ensemble to go with the girls positive vibe. Top from TiMo, trousers H&M and shoes from Betsey Johnson. Next time I better showcase one of Ingunn's own designs!

I apologize for the poor quality of the pictures above. My camera has yet to be replaced so in the mean time I'm using my iPhone - which the minute I step inside delivers the most disappointing results... The fact that the place was packed and I had way too little time on my hands didn't much help either..

BLUE

What would Norway be without blue? It would be like India without pink or Ireland without green. Throughout the year we are surrounded by endless blues: in water; skies; snows and glaciers. No wonder we are so fond of it! Personally though I have not used it so much for dressing - up until now. Sometime in 2011 it kinda' just crept into my wardrobe, and it looks like it is here to stay.

The top is a lovely fluid number from the current Zara collection. Trousers from the French brand Sandro, and scarf
a belt from a silk dress.

SUNNY SUNDAY

It was one of those perfect Sundays when we played tourists in own town, visiting sunlit bars and exploring streets less traveled by. Slow sipping a cold beer (and later a glass of white wine on the balcony) was all needed to make any heart sing.

A new outfit didn't hurt much either: The jacket is by Hanneli for InWear, and I must say I love the collaboration here: Hanneli has a very strong, no-frills fashion sense that I really like. Her rise in the fashion business is a refreshing break from the Kate Moss dominion. Her style is slightly edgy and often requires a very lean body and a good (huge!) chunk of money, but in this jacket she has made something most women would look good in.

Jeans from Global Funk, tank top from Vila and boots from Lea Foscati

BAMBOO & BLOATING

Thank God for bamboo! On those dreaded bloated days when nothing feels right - there is bamboo: It is soft and comfortable but also so heavy that it is quite forgiving (to all those bumps that are staring you in the face). I started using the fiber for my own collections many years ago and have seen the rise to in popularity ever since. Yesterday - when just about everything in the closet felt dreary and unwelcoming this old item suddenly gave me a wink from the bottom drawer.

Top: HILD RIEF, coat vintage from Herr & Fru Retro, jeans from Levi's, purse from D&G, OLD boots, and sunglasses from H&M

IN HONOUR OF SPRING

"Freeze into winter and sweat into spring" my father always said.

Well, that is never going to happen.

I simply cannot stand wearing a lot of clothes, so if there is a chance to wear less - I will. It has to be said that the last 14 days of illness has left me slightly wary of the cold ( and there WAS a wintercoat outside these garments..), but if the sun warms, it warms, right?

Here I am wearing a printed silk skirt from one of my previous collection (sadly the one that never made it to production). The print is deprived from one of my mothers paintings. The jacket is a million years old, but the fit is so great I simply cannot bring myself to get rid of it. Tights from Woolford and shoes from San Marina.

FASHIONWEEKS & ACCESSORIES

Oslo Fashion Week has just passed into history, and so has quite a few fun parties and exciting buying experiences. On my part the days were spent in such a rush that time for blogging was clearly out of the question. One other girl did blog more than ever however, and thanks to her I have a few fun souvenirs from the past week. Visit Hanne Erøy at http://www.fashionistainoslo.com/ and read all her entries there. The pictures of Heidi and me is taken of her.

As reason will have it I have great fun dressing up for the parties and events during fashionweeks. There is the outfit in it self, but of course there is also the accessories that makes the outfit come together. A statement necklace or some funky shoes can change a look all together, and that is what makes it so fun!

Below is the dress from Alice + Olivia you've seen before, but teamed with the necklase I made years ago, green tights and my new Betsey Johnson shoes, the dress completey changes caracter. The clutch is vintage. For Fam's show this rather vibrant outfit made sense.

The Moods of Norway shows calls for something much more dresses up all together. Their shows always has that cocktail vibe, so bringing out all the sparks for that night is so much fun! Below I am wearing a corset top from one of my previous collections together with a feathered skirt I made when I couldn't find the right one. The Marc Jacobs purse and the cross are treasured gifts, the gilded shoes from Michael Kors are new and the Chanel red lipstick and liner simply right..

Heidi looked like she had tackled Fashionweeks for years - but this was her first. What a pro!
